CHIDEU, SILWAMBA’S NIGHTMARE

CHIDEU, SILWAMBA’S NIGHTMARE

A number of players have a goalkeeper that they usually like scoring against and for Thomas Chideu that keeper is none other than Fred Silwamba.

The first time these two players met was 3 months after Thomas Chideu signed for Forest Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on 5th May,2021.

Chideu scored a consolation goal in the 56th minute after Friday Samu scored a brace in the 5th and 8th minute.

And that was the beginning of Fred Silwamba’s nightmare…

Last season an in-form Green Buffaloes side traveled to Ndola on December 8th to face Forest Rangers.

Buffaloes was enjoying good form with a 10 point gap between the two teams.

In the first half at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Buffaloes netted two quick goals through Martin Njobvu and another came from then leading goal scorer Friday Samu, who converted a penalty after Chishimba Changala hacked Robin Siame in the box.

The two goals left Forest trailing 2-0 at half time and the visitors looked destined for maximum points.

However, in the second half Chideu started the comeback from a set piece.

The Zimbabwean blasted a free kick into the bottom corner from the edge of the box beating the bulky Silwamba.

Chideu completed the comeback in the 71st minute when he unleashed a powerful shot from the corner of the 18 yard box with Silwamba blind sided and with little chance of parrying it away.

And it appears Chideu enjoys scoring against Silwamba.

A repetition of last season’s Week 15 nightmare happened yesterday for Silwamba who is now on the books of Lumwana Radiants, when Chideu came off the bench to score the winner 12 minutes into his first game of the season.

Chideu calmly slotted the ball laid for him by skipper Cedric Djeugoue into the far corner beating a fully stretched Silwamba, who is on loan from Buffaloes to hand Forest maximum points.

In a post- match interview with the media team, Chideu said, “Silwamba is my good luck charm, the moment I saw him in between the sticks, I knew I would score in this game and all I needed was a chance.’’

The goal was Chideu’ eighth in Malembe colours since joining from Harare City in March last year.

Chideu is the second striker to find the target for Forest after Moyela Libamba this season.

While Silwamba has no answers to the four goals for now, he should perhaps start practicing in advance on how to stop the unstoppable shots from the Zimbabwean hitman ahead of the reserve fixture in Ndola next year.
