FOREST RANGERS CONTINUE ON THEIR UNBEATEN RUN

FOREST RANGERS CONTINUE ON THEIR UNBEATEN RUN

Forest Rangers football Club continue on their unbeaten run away in Chambishi where they picked a point against a stubborn side Chambishi FC, similar to the draw result (Chambishi FC 1-1 Forest Rangers) they picked last season at the same venue.

Coach Ian Bakala said he was happy with the performance of his team even without a goal scored. “I think this is one of the best games the players have played this season, we as a technical bench are happy with their performance. A window to score didn’t come but that’s football, a point away is better than nothing.” He said.

The Bakala coached side is yet to lose game this season with two wins and four draws recorded so far.

Getting into the game on Saturday, the team was well drilled and ready for a positive result after the international break.

In the early minutes of the game, Peter Mwaangani who was starting his first match this season and Nigerian Quadri Kola had a number of chances in front of goal which they could not convert.

The first chance came 35 seconds into the game, as Eric Chomba wiped in a cross which went straight into the box from the right flank but Mwaangani missed it by an inch, then it fell for Kola who also missed the chance to put Forest in the lead.

Another chance for the away team came in the 22nd minute as Mpho Mathekgane and Quadri Kola had some good interchange of passes to Mwaagani who skipped the ball for Eric who was in a good position but his shot went wide.

In the 29th minute another opportunity fell through for Malembe as a shoot by Kola was blocked by Patrick Mambwe when the Chambishi Keeper Menald M’hango was off position.

In the Second half Forest continued to create chances, with a good ball from Kola in the 53rd minute, which saw Peter’s header missing the near post.

The tables turned in the 66th minute when Chambishi’s Innocent Kashita drove a ball from the midfield all the way into the box which Dieugo Apanane and Cedric Djeugoue had to chase down but he met a prepared Allan Chibwe who came off his line to clear a goal scoring opportunity for Chambishi.

Another chance for the home team came from a freekick in the 78th minute which had Chibwe stretching to full capacity to save. A few minutes later, Chambishi got a freekick outside the box that was shot upwards instead of forward by Stanley Chisenga right in front of goal.

The coming in of Bornwell Mwape and Clifford Mulenga in the 88th minute and 90th minute for Peter Mwaanagni and Eric Chomba respectively brought some energy into the team but it was too late as the clock was already winding down and the game ended in a stalement.

Forest Rangers has not been able to score in their last two games both home and away but Bakala says this is something the technical bench is continuously working on in training but he is happy with the performance of the team and the number of chances they are creating.

This draw against Chambishi FC has seen Forest Rangers drop to fifth position with ten points after six games played.
