THEE END OF FOREST’S 8 GAME UNBEATEN RUN

THEE END OF FOREST’S 8 GAME UNBEATEN RUN

After 8 games without experiencing a defeat, Forest Rangers now know the taste of defeat in the 2022/23 MTN SUPER LEAGUE.

Forest Rangers yesterday suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to FC MUZA in the week nine match played at Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka after going 8 games unbeaten.

Prior to this match Forest had played 8 games and recorded, 3 wins and 5 Draws with no loss. But that story was changed by the recently promoted FC MUZA.

15 minutes into the match, the home side was awarded what could be described as a soft penalty and Mandra Muleya made no mistake in converting it and putting the home side in the lead.

This was the first time Forest Rangers was conceding a goal first and in the first half of a game. Perplexed by this, Malembe failed to bounce back in the remaining 75 minutes.

Coach Ian Bakala described the first loss as disappointing and painful, he also questioned some decisions the referee was making.

“I think we were on top of the game until that one mistake, but we can’t blame the player these things happen. But it also comes down to the decisions the referees are making. One Coach was suspended for some games because of a similar situation at the same venue, such refereeing is not helping football in our country.”

Bakala also said he and his technical bench have a lot of work to do and he called on his strikers to do better.

“We need to push our strikers because at the moment they are not scoring, the only striker who has scored so far is Moyela Libamba and he is at two goals, which is not enough. Our strikers need to have confidence in front of the goal and they will starting scoring.”

The other players who have scored for Forest Rangers are Midfielder Clifford Mulenga and defenders Gerald Simsukwe and Chitoshi Chinga, who have each scored a goal.

This drop in points brings Forest down to 6th on the log with 14 points.

Our next fixture will be Prison Leopards at Trade fair on the 29th October, 2022.
