05 Feb A POINT TO REMEMBER FROM BUFFALOES
Forest Rangers this weekend managed to salvage a valueable point against an in-form Green Buffaloes side , in a game that ended in a one-all draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
“I don’t think there’s a team stronger than us at the moment. We are looking good and creating a lot of chances and the new additions have fitted in very well” said Ian Bakala, Forest Rangers Head Coach in a post match interview with the media.
Coach Bakala was surely right, as opposed to the previous games Forest Rangers had played, this match saw them creating many more chances which every supporter thought if they had converted, would have replicated the 2-5 humiliation of last season.
But it was the home side that started out zealous in the first half after Chitoshi Chinga committed a foul at the edge of the box.
Buffaloes’ Jack Chirwa expertly executed free kick gave the home side the advantage. This forced Bakala to make an early substitute in the 30th minute, which saw Lazarous Chishimba making way for debutant Samuel Smith Sikaonga.
The introduction saw the match shifting in Forest Rangers favour but still trailing by a goal at the break.
Forest Rangers had to re-organise themselves and they looked like a completely different side in the second half. This lead to the equalizer 6 minutes into the second half, after a foul was committed on Quadri Kola who later converted from the spot kick.
Debutant Cephas Mulombwa seemed to have some great chemistry with Monday Bwalya who is equally new at Malembe, the two caused havoc in Buffaloes half with the two closest chances coming in the 63rd and 80th minutes of the game.
Despite all efforts to get the winner, Forest walked away with a point which sees them 2nd on the logo with 38 points, 4 points behind Power Dynamos who’s victory against Napsa Stars pushed them to 42 points.
Our next match will be at home against Chambishi FC on Saturday 11th February. The venue will advised in the course of the week.
