11 Apr KASHOBONDO OPTIMISTIC FOLE CAN WIN A DOUBLE
Forest Rangers assistant coach Kennedy Kashobondo believes his team can build on their ABSA Cup semi-final triumph by winning a double this season.
Kashobondo, who was standing in for head coach Ian Bakala last Saturday helped Forest edge Power Dynamos 2-1 to reach the final of the ABSA Cup.
Speaking to reporters at Arthur Davies Stadium after Forest overcame Power, Kashobondo said the Ndola side are not ruling out the possibility of winning both the ABSA and Super League titles this season.
“I think it is so amazing because this was our initial plan to qualify for ABSA and indeed God has pushed us this far and our prayer is to see Forest Rangers getting the ABSA Cup for the first time,” he said.
The first assistant trainer said with six games to go Forest will not remove their foot off the pedal as they chase the Super League title.
Forest have 43 points, nine behind leaders Power.
“I think this is excellent motivation that will push us forward and we are looking at finishing in the top two and if anything getting the league because we still have six games to go and it is possible,” said Kashobondo, who was calling shots against Power alongside second assistant Owen Kaposa.
Coach Bakala is currently away with the Under-17 national team preparing for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations kicking off on April 29 in Algeria.
Fole Malembe are away to Nkwazi this weekend.
