ARROWS HOLD FOREST TO A BARREN DRAW

Forest Rangers yesterday recorded a barren draw against Red Arrows at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in week three of the MTN Super League.

An infuriating result for Malembe, after having dominated played for most of the Match.

The first half of the game started off with a cross from Apanane in the 10th minute which was narrowly missed by Tiki Chiluba.

15 minutes later, a good interchange of passes between Tiki and Kola had Libamba missing at close range.

Just before the half time break, the visitors had a chance with forward Ciel Ebengo but his shot went wide. Sending both teams to the break goalless.

In the early missed of the first half, Lazarous Chishimba’s freekick went right passed Charles Kaluba with no one to connect.

In the 70th minute, Forest Rangers found the back off the net through Substitute Moro Amenu but it was ruled out for an offside

5 minutes later, Arrows responded with their first shot on target, but the goal was equally perceived to be offside to their frustration.

In a post – match Interview with the media, Forest Rangers Head Coach Ian Bakala expressed disappointed in the way his team performed.

“We didn’t perform the way we were supposed, but our games against Red Arrows are always like this. From the time is started coaching Forest this is the third draw we are recording against Arrows at home. But we should have buried the game in the first half by being clinical upfront. ” said Bakala.

On the other hand, Chisi Mbewe, Red Arrows Head Coach expressed delight in his defense having kept two cleansheet in the two games they’ve played thus far.

“They say defense will win you titles, so I am happy that we have improved on our defense and the only thing we have to do is work on our scoring rate. ”

Forest Rangers next fixture will be away to newly promoted Mutondo Stars in kitwe on September 16, 2023.
