A DOUBLE OVER LUMWANA THIS SEASON

A DOUBLE OVER LUMWANA THIS SEASON

A double over Lumwana this season was completed at Dola Hill Stadium on Saturday, 22nd April, 2023.

The game started off with the home side mounting pressure on the visitors which resulted in a penalty in the early minutes of the game, which was perfectly executed by Moyela Libamba, sending the keeper in the wrong direction. More chances were created by Malembe but lack of composure in the 18 yard box resulted in a slender 1-0 lead at the break.

Lumwana Radiants regrouped in the Second half and looked sharp, mounting pressure on Forest’s defense , but Former Radiant’s defender Gerald Simusokwe who partnered with Captain Cedric Djeugoue, Dieugo Apanane and Leonard Makonga contained the pressure countering every chance they created.

In the 73rd minute, Audrey Funga had the best opportunity to equalize from close range but Daniel Daniel Mitshinemu confidently stayed on his line, making a very vital save to keep Malembe in the lead. In the 80th minute, Forest doubled the lead through Super Substitute Bornwell Mwape (for Moyela Libamba), who showed composure in the box before putting the ball in the back of the net beating Chambishi’s Mulenga Musonda.

Assistant Coach Kennedy Kashobondo, who is currently in charge of the team, while Head Coach Ian Bakala attends to National duty (U-17) was delighted with a victory after a 7 game drought.

“This game was very important for us because we have gone 7 games without a victory and we planned to collect maximum points at home. We knew this victory would push us back into the top 4 bracket, as we continue fighting for a continental slot.”

Forest Rangers are now seated fourth on the log with 46 points jointly tied with Napsa Stars, who are third based on goal difference.
Our next fixture will be away to Green Eagles in Choma on Saturday, 29th April, 2023.
