BAKALA WAXY LYRICAL ON STRIKER LIBAMBA

BAKALA WAXY LYRICAL ON STRIKER LIBAMBA

Normally when a new striker joins a new team, they struggle to find their feet but that is not the case with Moyela Libamba.

Libamba is proving to be a very good acquisition for Forest Rangers in his debut season after notching up his fourth goal of the campaign last Saturday.

The lanky striker powered in a Dieugo Apanane pin-point cross past Nkwazi keeper Charles Muntanga three minutes after the half hour mark at Trade Fair Ground to hand Forest maximum points and a 1-0 win.

Having crossed from town mates Indeni at the beginning of the season, many would not have fancied Libamba to be an instant hit at Fole Malembe but he has easily cemented his place in the team ahead of experienced forwards.

Libamba competes for a starting role alongside seasoned campaigners in strikers Bornwell Mwape, Peter Mwangani and Zimbabwean Thomas Chideu.

However, Bakala seems to have a lot of faith in Libamba and the player has repaid him with impressive performances and crucial goals thus far.

The former international is happy with the way Libamba is progressing and his goal scoring rate.

“I think he is doing well for the team and hopefully he is going to fight for the top scorer,” Bakala said in the aftermath of Forest’ 1-0 win over Nkwazi.

Bakala has implored the senior players at the club to up their game and emulate Libamba.

“The senior players I think they have to wake up because we have played 12 games and he is the only striker [Libamba] who is scoring for us.”

While other strikers have seen little or no action this season, Libamba has led the striking force whenever he is available for selection and has justified his continued selection.

Libamba missed three matches [Chambishi, Nchanga Rangers and Nkana] due to injury but was restored to the starting line-up against MUZA in a 1-0 defeat.

The forward has now netted in two consecutive matches for Forest.

Overall Libamba is three goals behind current Super League leading scorer Kennedy Musonda of Power Dynamos.
