CEDRIC CLOCKS A CENTURY OF APPEARANCES!

CEDRIC CLOCKS A CENTURY OF APPEARANCES!

Forest Rangers have had a number of foreign players that have exhibited high levels of professionalism in recent years with some going all the way to either captain the side or have left mark at the club.

But the there is certainly one who has been consistent from day one and is arguably committed to his core of duty.

Cameroonian Cedric Djeugoue has been solid as a rock since joining the club in July 2019.

And it is not by mistake that on Saturday 10th December, 2022 the former Cameroonian international made his 100 th appearance for Forest.

The centre-back has been impressive during his stay at the club and has now taken over the responsibility of captaining the side this season from Laurent Muma.

Muma is now with Power Dynamos.

Cedric led his Forest teammates against Zesco United in what was not just a derby game but also a landmark occasion for him.

The soft-spoken but no nonsense defender has achieved a number of milestones in his career but clocking 100 caps for Forest is one that he will forever cherish.

Cedric would have loved to win the city’s bragging rights on his special day but will be content with the fact that he played a vital role in ensuring that team kept a clean sheet and secured qualification to the ABSA Cup.

Zesco and Forest fought to a goalless draw at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

While reaching 100 caps is a big achievement for any player, Cedric has attained other milestones in his career such as representing his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Cedric was part of the ‘Indomitable Lions’ squad in Brazil that had the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Alexander Song, Stephanie Mbia, Pierre Webo, Joel Matip, Benoit-Assou Ekotto, Jean Makoun, Benjamin Moukandjo and Eric Choupo-Moting.

The utility defender has also played professional football in Chad and Morocco.

Cedric was part of the Cameroon’ Coton Sport side that reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2013 and lost to Al Ahly of Egypt.

The defender also played a pivotal role when Forest qualified to play continental football for the first time in 2020.

Cedric is the only surviving Cameroonian at the club following the departure of compatriots Yvan Mballa, Daily Echabe, Leopold Kamguia and Tchio Jules.

With his level headedness, our skipper will surely build on the 100 caps and even aspire to achieve greater things at Forest this season and beyond.

Congratulations Captain!
