30 Dec CHIPEPO END THE YEAR ON A LOSING NOTE
Coach Mwenya Chipepo’s four-match unbeaten run as Forest Rangers coach today came to a halt after Kabwe Warriors bagged the three points at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium.
Before the defeat, Chipepo’s Rangers were enjoying a fairy tale run of four matches without tasting defeat.
Diminutive midfielder Prince Mumba scored the solitary goal on 45 minutes to break the deadlock and hand the Kabwe outfit the maximum points.
From the first whistle, Warriors were the hungrier of the two teams having missed several chances before breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half time.
The Mumamba Numba coached side also had an opportunity to extend the lead came on 58 minutes but Mumba’s shot hit the inside post before bouncing back into play.
Forest would have levelled matters on 75 minutes but Chitoshi Chinga’s header went over the bar.
Five Minutes later, Daniel Mutshinemu’s gloves were put to the taste making a save from Francis Banda’s shot in the box.
In search of a response, Chipepo made a total of four substitutes (Felix Banda, Obed Masumbuko, Moro Amenu and Monday Bwalya) to try to get back into the game but Warriors kept the same momentum.
Chipepo said in a post-match interview that he was disappointed with the results considering that Forest also drew against Kansanshi Dynamos last week.
“We are very disappointed because we targeted to collect maximum points because we have been dropping so many points in our last few games. Now we need to work hard in the coming games especially at home next week.” he said.
Forest Rangers next match is against Zanaco FC at Dola Hill Stadium next week as their first 2024 fixture.
