Forest Rangers on Saturday bagged maximum points for the first time this season after narrowly beating Kabwe Warriors 1-0 at Railway Grounds.
Midfielder-cum-defender Chitoshi Chinga’s controlled tap in from a Benson Kolala corner on the hour mark handed Ian Bakala a win on his first visit to Kabwe as Forest coach. The winner was Chinga’s first for the club in as many matches.

Bakala was in-charge of Warriors last season before cutting ties with the team and migrated to Forest. The former international arrived at Forest as a replacement for Tenant Chembo and was given a task of helping Fole Malembe navigate through the last eight matches of last season. Bakala is now in his first full season as Forest trainer and has began to stamp authority as the man behind the wheel.

After a barren opening fixture against Kansanshi Dynamos at Trade Fair Grounds,Bakala made two changes to his squad with striker Moyela Libamba and youngster Brighton Musonda starting ahead of Bornwell Mwape and Mpho Mathekgane.

Bakala was elated with the victory and lauded his charges for playing according to instructions.
“I give credit to the players because they worked according to our plan.I think they did well though we still have work on small things but they did it somewhere around 75-80 percent,” Bakala said in a post-match interview.

Not only did Bakala get a win against his former employers but also became the first coach to hand George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina his first defeat as Warriors coach. Bakala observed that it was important that the team kept a clean sheet for the second consecutive game but wants to see consistency. He however, said he is not worried with the goal scoring ratio of his strikers as this is still in it’s infancy.

And the former midfielder maestro has hailed Musonda for his performance on his first start in Fole colours in the Super League.
“He did well though he got a knock and that’s why we had to substitute him. For his first game in the premiership I think I give him 100 percent,” Bakala said.
Musonda is a product of Young Forest Rangers.

Fole Malembe are now sixth with two points,to shy of joint leaders Power Dynamos and Nchanga Rangers.
Forest’s next game is a Ndola derby against Buildcon FC on Saturday.
