26 Aug Dieugo Apanane Is Ready For Another Round Of 34!
After putting in a lot of work during pre-season training, defender Dieugo Apanane says he is looking forward to the new season.
The left-back completed 90 minutes in all the three matches Forest Rangers played at the four-team tournament in Kitwe.
Coach Ian Bakala selected Apanane in all the three matches and the defender put in 90 minutes shifts without much ado against Nchanga Rangers, Power Dynamos and Prison Leopards.
The former Nkana and Buildcon defender was the only Forest player that started and finished all the three matches at Arthur Davies Stadium Annex pitch.
Apanane said in an interview in the aftermath of the tournament he is working hard in training so that he can help the team achieve their ambitions next season.
“It was important for me as an individual because it has put me in the frame and mood of the league already. My mind is switched to the league. As a team, the tournament was very important for us to gauge ourselves and see the level we are at,” he said.
Apanane was also impressed with the determination and efforts of his teammates at the tournament which shows that they are raring to go.
“I liked the determination from my teammates. They showed that we can even do it in the league. I loved that spirit in them. We were giving it all and we were fighting.”
On his performance in the three matches, Apanane disclosed that he is fit enough to endure the three matches without any challenges.
“All the games that we played were competitive but the first one (against Nchanga) did not have that much intensity compared to the second and last one. I managed to play 90minutes plus because I am stronger and fit. We went for pre-season and we did everything that we were given by the coaches. I am fit enough to play all the games for 90 minutes plus,” said Apanane, who also played all the 34 league matches last season.
Apanane, who captained Forest in a 1-0 win over Power, said he looks after himself very well off the pitch hence he is ready to play in all the games.
