05 May DOLA HILL WELCOMES ‘MICHAEL SARPONG’
A number of foreign players are plying their trade in the Super League and Forest Rangers is certainly among the teams that boosts of ammunition built around the foreign imports.
Forest have in their ranks players from Cameroon,Nigeria,Ghana,Democratic Republic of Congo and the locals. But there is also a latest addition to the Ghanaian contingent as Forest have lured striker Michael Sarpong to the club. Sarpong has signed a three-month short term contract with Fole Malembe.
Sarpong was on the books of Ethiopian Premier League side Wolaita Dicha before making a switch to Forest. The arrival of Sarpong brings the number of Ghanaians at Dola Hill Ground to two. Sarpong’ compatriot Amenu Moro is among the strikers he will rival for a starting place at Forest. Moro has scored three goals this season,nine behind club leading scorer Moyela Libamba.And Sarpong is relishing to hit the ground running with a bang in the few matches he will be involved in before the season closes.
“I feel like home ,the welcome was great and the coaches and players made me feel like I am part of them already so it was really great,” said Sarpong,who is in line to make his debut against Power Dynamos tomorrow rocking Jersey number 45.
He said is looking forward helping the team collect maximum points at home against Power.
After facing Power,Forest remaining league matches will be against Napsa Stars in Lusaka and will wrap up the season with a Ndola derby against Zesco United at home.
Forest are also in the final of the ABSA Cup and Sarpong will be among the strikers the technical bench will rely on to bring the cup to ZAFFICO headquarters.
