FOREST HITS A BRICK WALL

FOREST HITS A BRICK WALL

In the chase for the title, Forest Rangers hit a brick wall in Chingola as they lost 2 nil to Nchanga Rangers in week 24 of the MTN Super League.

After closing in the gap to only 2 points with log leaders Power Dynamos last week, Week 24 saw them recording their first loss in 9 games and trailing by 5 points and 8 goals difference after Power Dynamos beat Kansanshi by three goals to one.

“I am more concerned about the 30 points we could possibly accumulate in the remaining 10 games as opposed to the 3 we lost today.” said Coach Ian Bakala In a post match interview with the media.

Nchanga Ranger’s striker Ciel Ebengo broke the deadlock in the 29th minute through a freekick putting the home side in the lead.

Forest’s clearest chance in the first half came from a cross whipped in by Cephas Mulombwa but Eric Chomba missed the opportunity to tap it in.

In the second half Nchanga extended their lead when Pedro Miguel found himself unmarked in the box and with a well targeted header over Chibwe’s head, dashing all hopes of a come back for the visitors.

This drop in points keeps Forest second on the log but 5 points adrift of the log leaders Power Dynamos.

Forest Rangers will look to make amends and keep themselves in the title race as they face Nkana on Saturday, 25th February, 2023.
