FOREST SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

FOREST SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

Coach Kennedy Kashobondo’s reign started off on a disappointing note, after allowing Mutondo Stars to come from behind to stun his team in a Super League Week Four match.

With Ian Bakala trekking to Nkana, first assistant Kennedy Kashobondo was appointed interim head coach and was calling shots for the first time since he was given the mantle.

But the gaffer was left disappointed after seeing his team ripped apart by Mutondo to taste defeat for the first time this season.

“Very disappointing result and I do not know how to describe it but it is lesson learnt for the team and we look forward to the next game,” Kashobondo said in a post-match interview.

Despite playing in familiar territory at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Fole Malembe failed to hold on to their early lead and allowed the newly promoted side to carry maximum points.

Eric Chomba headed Forest in-front on 29 minutes but Mutondo restored parity on the stroke of half time through Richard Mwila spot kick after Captain Cedric Djeugoue committed a foul in the box.

A few minutes into the second half, Mutondo took the lead in the 51st minute after striker Chisha Kampamba beat keeper Daniel Mutshinemu.

In a bid to find the equaliser, Kashobondo made some changes among them introducing Obed Masumbuko for Quadri Kola in the 79th minute.

And Super Substitute Masumbuko made an immediate impact scoring a minute after being introduced. Masumboko out jumped a defender to head in a Deugo Apanane cross to level matters with, his second touch in 80th minute.

But that celebration was shot lived after Mutondo’s Substitute Dalitso Lungu scored the winner on 88 minutes and the Kitwe side held on for their second victory in the topflight.

Forest have five points from 4 games, and will be facing former head coach Ian Bakala when they meet Nkana next week on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
