12 Nov RANGERS LOST IN THEIR FOREST
Forest Rangers yesterday dropped maximum points at Dola Hill Stadium this season after in-form Nkwazi overcame them in a Super League Week 12 encounter.
Prior to the loss, Forest had never gone down in front of their passionate fans.
But it appears Nkwazi were determined to change all that as they left Ndola with maximum points.
The match started off with the home side taking the lead, through striker Moyela Libamba, who scored his first goal this season in the 8th minute.
The International striker tapped in a cross from Tiki Chiluba to put Forest in the lead.
But Nkwazi quickly regrouped and leveled matters 15 minutes before the break courtesy of former Forest striker Peter Mwaangani.
The teams went into the break tied at one apiece.
At restart Forest made a change with Obed Masumbuko replacing Chiluba.
The change saw Malembe gain momentum, however, Nkwazi were quick to capitalise on a defense lapse by Paul Banda as Mathews Mashimikilo re-established their lead on 53rd minute.
In search of the equalizer, Forest who were without acting head Kennedy Kashobondo unleashed Felix Banda, Kafula Mukuka and Gerald Simusokwe but still they couldn’t get the elusive equalizer to salvage a point.
Defender Chitoshi Chinga’s effort on 83rd minute saw his shot saved by the alert goalkeeper Bradley Mweene.
Kashobondo watched from the stands as he was serving a one-match suspension after an off-the-pitch incident in Kabwe against Prison Leopards last Wednesday.
Assistant coach Owen Kaposa was calling the shots in the absence of Kashobondo.
Kaposa during the Post match interview described the defeat as painful.
“This is a very painful defeat and the problem is we keep allowing goals. A team that scores can win but if we keep leaking goals, then even the one goal we score won’t mean anything,” Kaposa said.
Forest will have a lot of work to do after the international break if they are to defend the ABSA Cup.
Their next game will be away to Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe.
