30 Jan THANK YOU LIBAMBA
After spending a season and half at Forest Rangers, striker Moyela Libamba has moved to South African Dstv Premiership side Lamontiville Golden Arrows.
Libamba joined Malembe at the start of last season from town mates National Division One outfit Indeni.
Prior to his arrival at Forest, Libamba was not known to many but his prowess in-front of goal in the Malembe colours made him a fan’s favourite.
In his debut season at Forest, Libamba played a crucial role in helping the team win their maiden Absa Cup title.
Forest beat Maestro United Zambia 2-0 at Woodlands Stadium in May last year to end their 18-year trophy drought.
Libamba scored 12 goals in the Super League last season and one in the Absa Cup semi-finals.
Forest edged Power 2-1 courtesy of Libamba and Cephas Mulombwa’s goals.
His exploits earned him his first call-up to the national team and he did not disappoint as his header proved decisive in the COSAFA Cup final against Lesotho in July last year.
The Chipolopolo won 1-0 to lift the regional championship for the record seventh time.
And this season the lanky forward started with a bang after he contributed a goal in a 3-1 win over Power in the Carling Black Label Charity Shield final at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Libamba has two Super League goals in the current campaign.
With those impressive scoring numbers, Arrows wasted no time in luring him to Durban on a permanent deal.
Libamba, whose contract was due to expire in July this year scored a total of 16 goals for Forest.
After helping the team win two titles in a short stint, Libamba has left a mark at Forest and will forever be remembered as a goal scoring machine.
We wish you all the best in SA Wiz!
